Enhance Your Messaging with VideoMail
With the UM8500, users can create and deliver recorded video messages and screen captures via email clients, including Microsoft Outlook. They can send multiple images within a single email. Providing both images and video explanations in an email communication is a powerful way to get the message across.

Seeing is believing. And sometimes it can be the key to effectively communicating—whether you are a plant manager attaching a workflow chart for general management to review or a scientist annotating images of microscopic bacteria while developing a new vaccine. Whatever the communications challenge, VideoMail helps users get their
messages through.

End Phone Tag with FMFM
The UM8500’s FMFM feature can put an end to phone tag by enabling users to create custom screening rules for incoming phone calls. Those rules can ensure important calls are forwarded while others are not. For example, after-hours calls from co-workers can be transferred to an employee’s cell phone, or calls during lunch can be sent directly to voice mail. FMFM provides flexibility and control by enabling users to customize their telephone’s behavior to increase productivity and maximize the opportunity to connect important calls.

Key Features
Screen Incoming Calls with ViewCall Desktop Call Control
ViewCall enables users to screen incoming calls in real-time using a simple, easy-to-use control panel on their desktops. Users simply select from multiple actions or greetings to optimize a caller’s experience, thus deploying more intelligent messaging.

Listen to Your Calendar
Microsoft® Exchange Server integration within the UM8500 system enables the unit to read aloud
a schedule of activities for any given day – up to one year in advance. So if users forget to sync a
smart device with Exchange, they can simply call the UM8500 voice mail system and listen to their calendar of appointments.

Seamless Integration with a Variety of Email Applications
The UM8500 is a Microsoft Windows®-based solution that provides unified messaging within a Microsoft Exchange® environment. To provide maximum flexibility, it can be seamlessly integrated with Lotus Notes, GroupWise and Internet-based email applications which support the IMAP protocol. Up to 9 external mailboxes can be supported on a per user basis. This is in addition to their licensed email account on the UM8500. Messages in external mailbox accounts can be manipulated (listen to, save, delete, forward, etc.) by the UM8500 user. The external mailbox feature requires the optional TTS license to be supported on the UM8500.

Seamless Integration with a Variety of Mobile Devices
Users may retrieve messages from any location, using whichever device is the most convenient—cell phones, PDAs, web browsers or their laptops. Using the latest text-to-speech technology, the UM8500 enables users to listen to email while away from the office and respond by telephone.
Enterprise Scalability & Investment Protection

The UM8500 deploys easily in large enterprises, handling up to 30,000 users with the equivalent of
several hundred ports. And by providing Telephone User Interface (TUI) emulation for Octel Aria, Serenade and Centigram/Baypoint, the UM8500 offers investment protection and lowered user-training time and expense.

Multiple Levels of Redundancy
The UM8500 provides multiple levels of redundancy suited to the most stringent customer requirements. For example, when configured in a cluster mode, a group of UM8500s function in tandem. In the event of a port or server failure, the other units in the cluster compensate for the failure without loss of service.
2U Rack-Mountable Configurations

NEC offers UM8500 with 2U servers. This configuration reduces space, power consumption, cabling, and PBX hardware requirements. Fewer points of failure mean higher reliability.
